A free enterprise system provides individuals the opportunity to make their own economic decisions, without restrictions from the government. It allows the supply and demand of consumers to determine the success or failure of an economic endeavor. As a result, some business owners have become successful, while others have not. In an essay, you will choose an entrepreneur (business or enterprise) and argue whether or not the free enterprise system was necessary for that individual to make an impact on the business world. Choose one side and present the counterargument in paragraph #4. Paragraph #1: (25 points) Introduction- Start with a hook (quote, a fact, bold statement) to engage your reader. Develop a thesis statement: to add your viewpoint to the topic. In your thesis, give the three reasons why or why not Free Enterprise is necessary to make an impact on the business world. State your claim: What is your entrepreneur (business or enterprise) and tell whether the free enterprise system was necessary for that individual? Briefly describe it. Also, briefly touch upon the points you will make in the body paragraph. Paragraph #2: (25 points) Body- 1st reason why or why not Free Enterprise is necessary for the business to be successful. Give details and examples. Paragraph #3: (25 points) Body – 2nd reason why or why not Free Enterprise is necessary for the business to be successful. Give details and examples. Paragraph #4: (25 points) Body – Present the opposing side as to why or why not Free Enterprise is necessary for the business to be successful. Give details and examples and a possible explanation to defend your argument against this counterargument. Paragraph #5: (25 points) – Conclusion- summarize briefly why your entrepreneur benefits or does not benefit from Free Enterprise. Reinforce your claim. You can also include new, but related information in the conclusion.
