Ever since the George Floyd murder, there have been calls to defund and/or dismantle police departments in the US. Imagine you are the major of a big US city. Use Virtue ethics to convince the city council that the police force can be reformed.
• Consider what kind of person needs to be hired to become a police officer (what are their virtues) and what kind of training is needed (how do their virtues become habits?).
• Does the current reporting of mainstream media make it easier or harder to attract the right people to the police force?
